FAQ
How is overtime pay calculated?
Overtime is your regular hourly rate multiplied by the overtime multiplier (usually 1.5), times the overtime hours. For $20/hour and 10 overtime hours: $20 × 1.5 × 10 = $300.
When does overtime apply?
Under the FLSA, non-exempt employees must be paid overtime for hours worked over 40 in a workweek. Some states have daily overtime rules too.
What is double time?
Double time (2×) is sometimes paid for holidays or hours beyond a daily threshold, but it is not federally required — only the 1.5× weekly overtime is.
